Pyra Labs bought by google

Pyra Labs is one of the Google’s corporate acquisitions. It is the company that coined the word Blogger, and made the service a big success. The company’s first product, also named ‘Pyra’, was a web application which would combine a project manager, contact manager, and to-do list.
Blogger is free service to create blogs. Technocratic, a blog-tracking service keeps tabs on over 30 million weblogs in what has come to be known as the blogosphere. According to Technorati, a new weblog is created every second. There are blogs out there for everyone. More than 50 of these are Blogger users. It is one of the alexa’s top 30 websites.
The Biggest plus point of blogger is that it’s simple and free. Even during Financial crisis blogger was free. One needs to know no or just minimal coding to Create a blog. A blog is just like a personal diary or a content driven website. This is Blogger Hosted Blog.

Initially, Blogger was completely free and there was no revenue model. When the company’s seed money dried up, the employees continued without pay for weeks or, in some cases, months; but this could not last, and eventually Williams faced a mass walk-out by everyone including co-founder Hourihan. Williams ran the company virtually alone until he was able to secure an investment by Trellix, which is a software company whose various software offerings allowed web users to set up personal websites with the use of online publishing tools.

Later on, Pyra Labs was acquired by Google in 2003.
