How to find a good keyword?

How to find a good keyword?

I write a lot about taxes, loans, money and tax refunds on my blogs. People pay me off course to write about those things but I am seriously thinking of opening a blog about money because there is so many people requesting reviews and articles about this subject.

You will find popular keyword in you daily life on TV, newsmagazines and off course internet. Some keywords are easy to spot like Paris Hilton and iPood telephone and some need a trained eye to find. But if you are not so experienced webmaster you can start writing about things you like there is always someone else that likes the same things as you.

Google SEO through Keyword Optimization

Google SEO through Keyword Optimization

To get a high page rank in Google, you need to do Google search engine optimization. Google considers one-way links towards your site very important in determining your site’s importance. Thus, the quantity and quality of your one way links factor greatly in your Google page rank. However, Google SEO does not and should not end with one-way link building.

The Importance of Choosing the Right Keywords in Google SEO

A web page’s rank rating is dependent on the keyword or keyword phrase used for the query. Therefore, you should make sure that you do SEO for the purpose of gaining Google page rank dominance on the right keyword or set of keywords. The right keyword is the text that people use to search Google to find the service that you provide.

For instance, if you maintain a website that sells airline tickets, you should try to optimize your site so as to gain high Google page rank rating for the keyword phrase “airline tickets.” Optimizing your web page for Google searches involving the keyword “car rental” is not going to do your web traffic much good.

The logic is simple. People looking for airline tickets will almost always use “airline tickets” or variations of such in their Google query. They are not going to type in “car rental” to find airline tickets online. Thus, even if you attain a Google page rank rating of 10 on the keyword “car rental,” this doesn’t mean anything because the people who see your site are people looking for car rental deals or information on this field.

Determining SEO Keywords

It is important that you know the keywords or keyword phrases that can lead Google search engine traffic to your web site. You must therefore create a list of keywords that contain your main keyword and other related keywords that people may be using to look for your type of business or niche service.

To determine your main keyword, simply think about the main service you offer. In the previous example, since your web site is selling airline tickets online, logic dictates that your main keyword phrase be “airline tickets.”

However, you cannot do Google SEO on that phrase only. You must optimize your website and pages for other related keywords which may drive more people to your site. Finding these related keywords is fairly easy. Simply use an online dictionary and find synonyms to your keyword or keyword phrases. You can also modify your primary keyword to include other words and you can also spell it different ways. Using the previous example, related keyword phrases to “airline tickets” are “discounted airline tickets,” “cheap airline tickets,” “tickets airline,” “air line tickets,” and lots more. To make your job easier, you can use the Google Adwords keyword tool or Overture’s keyword selector tool to generate related keywords and keyword stats.

Implementing Keyword SEO

After you have drawn a list of your main keyword and your related keywords, you now have to optimize your web site for your keywords. The rule of thumb is to have around 5 to 20 percent of your keyword or keywords in your page’s content so that the Google search engine spider will find your page relevant for the keywords you wish to gain a high page rank rating on. However, be sure to balance keyword density with readability.

Google MSN and Yahoo SEO Made Easy

Google, MSN and Yahoo SEO Made Easy

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a complex task for the novice web master. It is further complicated by the SEO jargon and concepts that a newbie cannot hope to remember and keep track of without extensive study and professional help. However, SEO can be a breeze if you know the key SEO steps. Whether you are targeting high search engine results page (SERP) position for Google, MSN, Yahoo, or whatnots, read on to learn how you can do SEO the easy way.

Find the SEO “path” of least resistance

For SEO, it is essential to determine your keyword niche. However, if you choose to optimize your web pages for keywords that already have a lot of web sites competing for the top spot, you may not gain much headway in SERP.

The easy way to gain SERP supremacy is by optimizing your web pages for keywords that people use to find your type of business or service yet do not have a lot of web pages jockeying for top SERP placement. For instance, if you have an online academic writing service, you would perhaps naturally optimize your web site for the keyword phrase “essay writing.” If you do a search engine query using that keyword, however, you will realize the futility of trying to beat the tens of millions of pages that the search engines find relevant to that keyword.

As an alternative, you can optimize your web pages for something that people are not competing for. However, make sure that the keyword you optimize for should be something that people will actually use when searching for your type of service. For instance, if you do provide essay writing services for scholarship applicants you can choose the less contested keyword “write scholarship essay.” One other keyword suggestion would be “guide to essay writing.” Check out Google Adwords keyword tool or use your trusty Thesaurus to find alternative keywords.

Initiate keyword SEO

After you have determined which keyword or keywords would lead people to your web site yet not relegate you to the bottom of SERPs, you must initiate search engine optimization of your html and page contents to reflect these keywords.

Start keyword SEO on your home page and work your way through your other web pages. Work on your html codes of course as these should be optimized for their full SEO potential. Make sure that you use your meta tags to reflect your keywords, but do avoid cluttering your meta tags up. On the page content itself, write your keyword or keywords in bold. However, make sure that your keywords are sprinkled in naturally and that you don’t do it to the extent that all your visitors see are keywords.

SEO through one way links

Remember the three rules of one-way link building: you have to have more, the web pages where these links can be found should display content relevant to yours, and these web pages must have high page rank and SERP positions themselves.

Look for web pages where you can display links that point to your site. Post your links in directories, blogs that allow link follow through, other web pages that belong to your niche category, etc. It would be better if your links appear on these sites as keyword anchor texts for greater impact.

Google SERP Spillover and Snowball Effects

Google SERP Spillover and Snowball Effects

Ever wondered if the powers that be at Google had a talk with your mom before deciding on Google Search Engine Results Page (SERP) ranking algorithm? There is one saying that parents are fond of telling their children about and it goes like this: “Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.” This saying may just as well be the guiding principles in Google’s SERP rank rating.

Google SERP Spillover Effect: “Tell me who your friends are…”
Come to think of it, a web site’s Google SERP rank rating relies quite heavily on its one-way links. To get listed at the top (or near the top, anyway) of Google’s SERP for a particular query, a website must have a great number of quality and relevant links. Let’s look at these concepts more closely.

Your one way links, as you probably already know, refer to the links that point from one web site to your web site. When visitors click it, they are directed to your web site from whatever web page they came from. Google’s SERP algorithm designers think that you are “in” on the scene when you have many such links.

However, that’s not the extent of it. Google’s algorithm designers think that the Google SERP rank rating and the relevance of the web pages from where your one way links are found are even more important than the mere absolute number of links that you have pointing towards your site. That is, your one way links only count towards your web site’s SERP rank rating if these links are posted on web sites with high SERP ratings in your keyword or category niche. For instance, it is more effective if your online train ticket sales site has a one-way link from an online travel agency’s page that has a high Google SERP rank rating, than if it has a one-way link from an obscure online poker gaming site.

This is Google SERP ranking algorithm’s spillover effect. It is Google’s official stand that if webmasters of sites having high page rank ratings in your particular industry think that your web site is worth linking to, then your web site is probably relevant, too. Your web site’s Google SERP ranking therefore rises accordingly.

This smacks of high school clique mentality, don’t you think? If the cool guys think you’re cool, then you must be cool, too…

Google Snowball Effect

Getting to the top of Google SERP rankings is comparable to climbing up to the top of Mt. Everest. It requires a lot of patience, skill and fortitude to reach this highly desirable spot. Prior to accomplishing this goal, a web master has to put in months of hard work to make his web site Google friendly so that the Google spider will return it at the top of the particular keyword SERP.

Once a website attains a high ranking on one keyword, however, attaining supremacy on related keywords or keyword phrases becomes easier. In short, your web site’s initial high SERP ranking snowballs and raises your page ranking in other related keywords and keyword phrases.

Where can I find how often a keyword is searched?

Google does not have one of these tools but there are plenty of companies that claim they gather statistic and can give you the info if you pay them.

Google Adword have a Keyword tool that can help you along the way but it does not show overall what people are searching for.

The most used keyword tool on the internet today belong to overture, and you can see some magazine also use this tool when Britney Spears have made a fool of herself again.

Do not have too many keywords on the same page

Do not have too many keywords on the same page
There are so many webmasters doing this so you should stick with the keyword or keyword phrase you like to have as number one. Make a list of your most important keywords and stick to them. Do not write them all one page but try to make one page for each keyword phrase if possible.

Keep in mind that Google want it to be easy for users to find the information they were looking for so if you create a keyword for example “higher pagerank” then the unique page should have such information.
Your keyword or phrase should be placed in the title, heading, and off course within the text of the page
